Call for more cyclists to join Taiwan challenge
Tue 5th January 2010 1.41PM
The Taiwan cycle ride is part of the charity’s celebration of 30 years of fundraising for cancer research in the north west. Jessie will have her endurance levels tested along the 470km journey through some very difficult terrain. Jessie decided to raise money for the charity after seeing flyers advertising the event at the Royal Liverpool Hospital where she works as a research nurse in the department of clinical biochemistry and metabolic medicine. Jessie couldn’t turn down the opportunity to return home. Jessie said: “This is a really exciting opportunity.
I currently cycle to and from work everyday for around 30 minutes, so hopefully I should be in good shape before the start of the event. The cycle ride is a great opportunity to raise money for a fantastic local charity so I do hope some other kindred spirits will come forward and join me.” To book a place or for further information contact the events fundraiser, Samantha Archibald, on 0151 343 4300, e-mail samantha. archibald@ccrmail.org Anyone interested in taking part is required to raise a minimum of £3,250. Half of this money covers accommodation and flights, while the other half, and anything over, will go to CCR.
A registration fee of £250 will secure a place on the event and go straight to the charity. All entrants must be 18 years old and over. The deadline for entry has now been extended until mid-December. CCR is dedicated to advancing the regional fight against cancer in Merseyside and Cheshire. The charity works in the north west of England, funding world class research to further the understanding of how to prevent and diagnose cancer, and how to treat it with the most effective ongoing care.
CCR receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity of the public to further its research. Clatterbridge Cancer Research is a registered charity (No. 519357) raising money to help fund local research into the genetic aspects behind the causes of cancer. Founded in 1982 and based in Bebington, Wirral and the Liverpool Cancer Research Centre, its research helps aid treatment for patients across the north west.
